A question about John Marron...
John Marron, as most people know, is locked into a competitive race for the District I council seat. This week, I asked his attorney Charles Flood a
question: Why did John Marron's driver's license get suspended in 2004? Flood answered simply that his client refused to submit to a breath test, and that his license was suspended for six months. Flood would not elaborate as to what led up to that point, other than to say: "Nothing happened." When I asked if it was because Marron was pulled over, he wouldn't say. When I asked what happened to the case, he wouldn't talk about it. But,
according to court documents, Marron was indeed pulled over in the city of Nassau Bay in July of 2004. He refused a breath test, as is his right. Court documents show that he then, as routine, had his license suspended for 180 days.
It is unclear at this point whatever happened to the case. While he was arrested on the suspicion of DUI, the
case apparently dried up after the suspension of the license. Hence, why Charles Flood may have continually stated that nothing happened. Would this affect his election chances? Who knows. I have uploaded a few of the key court documents for you to read. They are a little fuzzy, my scanner's not the best.

Only if the voters are allowed to hear about all the drinking & driving the other city council district I candidate does with his former boss and all those city hall lobbyists. Why limit it to District I? It's not like the Council Members are shy about getting their drink on & then driving all the way back to Kingwood, uhhm... I mean home.

John Marron is a disgrace! He was just a bad candidate, now he's a bad drunk candidate.

wow, this guy tried to drive all the way from nassau bay to houston with an OPEN CONTAINER?!! how crazy can you be?! i think there's nothing wrong with these folks drinking but be smart get a driver or something. even if all of them drink like stated above, the rest of them obviously were not crazy enough to drive home as drunk as this guy or with an open container and risk a DWI. and i agree with eiram above, good thing this guy didn't try and drive to kingwood.

Yeah, sure, this is the guy I want representing me!! How much more is there that we don't know about? Frankly, this guy scares me to death. And what to make of Sylvia Garcia, Gene Green and others who have endorsed Marron? I wonder how they feel about this? I think I will ask them.

This is not a deal breaker. There are many people in District I who have found themselves in the same position. And if you want to talk about drunk city hall people... well, that deserves its very own blog, doesn't it?

I have to disagree with you Jerry-this is a total deal breaker. This guy had an open container and swerved all over the road driving. what kind of judgement and how irresponsible. and this happened just a few summers ago!

I just want to remind everyone who has commented that "Don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house"...
No one is perfect, look at our past and present elected officials.
I think everyone has someone in their family, friends or themselves that has made a mistake. Even channel 13's famous news reports have made some type of mistake, and we forgive them. Those guys are still on TV. Learn to forgive.

I agree with M Cantu--this guy made a mistake, that's one thing. But, would I vote for him? NO WAY. This guy did this recently. To drive with an open container swerving all over the road that far a distance shows poor judgment. It's ridiculous that in this day and age, people don't wake up and realize how much they endanger the lives of others when they drive drunk. Think of all the fatalities from drunk drivers. Just because past and present elected officials have gotten a DWI should not make this an acceptable practice of behavior for representatives.

We've had the luxury of having Ben Reyes, John Castillo, Carol Alvarado.....seems like they've had their share of troubles. Go to Downing Street and see other councilmembers at their best.

That guy has my vote!

Ok....So he made a "supposed" mistake...does this make each one of you people that commented God...i think not! John Marron is my grandfather amd personally i could really care less what anyone thinks about him, but if you let one mistake turn over your decision to vote for a man who has obviouly more sense than any of you, then yall are the crazy ones. Who is anyone to judje him based on a everyday things you all probably do anywats. i know that the elections have been far from over, and for some of you, the celebration that John Marron did not win, has made yall extremely happy, is beyond me. lighten you people, he is a great man with a mistake which i really doubt to believe....considering the fact that i know my grandpa better than any of you!
