Airport Concessions: What Jason Yoo wants, Jason Yoo gets

Update:  City council delayed the vote for a week, and it looks like Mayor Bill White and the Council Members will get a little more pushback than they realized.  I mean, 15 years for a no bid contract?  And City Council routinely gets worked up over a two or three year contract for just a few bucks.  I think there will be more fight left in this one.

I guess it's helpful to donate a lot of money to City Council members, and then hire a high priced lawyer to wave a flag of discontent.  Jason Yoo, whose daughter Diane had worked for Council Member Gordon Quan, and then later Jarvis Johnson, is about to receive a large boost from City Council.  He's getting a multi-year contract extension without putting the contract out to bid.  It's well known inside political circles that Contential, which uses all of Terminal C, is extremely unhappy with the way JDDA Concessions (owned by Yoo) has operated the business.  They would much rather see what is going on in Terminal E, where concessions are brand spanking new, and where flyers can actually get Starbucks rather than some no-name bad coffee that doesn't even have soy milk.  But why put it to bid when you can just rake in a couple of grand in political contributions.  Jarvis Johnson, Michael Berry, and Ronald Green all support Yoo... and they all got plenty of greenbacks in their political coffers... hmmmmmm....
