A dragged out affair...
State Senator Tommy Williams wins the patience-is-a-virtue award today. Usually at City Council, the elected officials who swing by are given priority. They are allowed to speak about whatever, and then move on to their business of the day. Alas, Sen. Williams picked a bad day to speak about the Woodlands-Houston deal at City Council. A scheduled tax rate hearing brought out several pastors, The Metropolitan Organization, Bruce Hotze, Paul Bettencourt, Bob Lemer and so on. As you can imagine.. those guys engaged in an active discussion with council members.. right up until noon! Sen. Williams waited patiently for a good three hours, but in the end, the measure was passed. The Woodlands and Houston are now operating on a Regional Participation Agreement.
