Chief Hurtt officially Chief Blogger!
As we first told you last month, HPD Chief Harold Hurtt has officially become a blogger:
I plan to use this forum as a tool to let you see some of the "behind the scenes" good work done by the men and women of the Houston Police Department … the kinds of things you aren't likely to see on the news. As you probably realize, the news media doesn't always show you the positive stories … and at HPD, there are lots of good, positive things going on.
Hey! We report on positive things, like when all the HPD officers helped rebuild homes, etc. Anyway, I noticed it's a blogspot blog, (aka free) and not something that uses Typepad or other fee based blogging service. That surprised me because you would think the IT guys at the City of Houston would insist on something that is a fee based service for management purposes. I guess it wasn't in the City Budget this fiscal year.

I live in the South Braeswood area near Gessner and been in the area since 2000. and crime has really went down.

The sad thing about HPD is the desire to hire more officers with 60 hours in college. Truth is there is more certified officers in this area who are better officers in HPD. How do i know, I have a relative that works for HPD and he was hired before the 60 hour requirment and he is a 22 year vet. If he was to get a job today, HPD would not even look at his application. Trust me, I know I am an officer as well. Since i dont have 60 college hours, i have to look outside houston for employment. I am capable to do the same work as the others. Heck i even graduated the UHD Academy top of my class. Changing the requirments could net houston some good officers. I know plenty

Montalvo told reporters the unmanned aircraft would be used for "mobility" or traffic issues, evacuations during storms, homeland security, search and rescue, and also "tactical." She admitted that could include covert police actions and she said she was not ruling out someday using the drones for writing traffic tickets.
HPD leaders said they would address privacy and unlawful search questions later.

Nice work there, chief. I thought you took an oath of office to protect the constitution, which includes the Bill of Rights, which includes the 4th Amendment, which specifically states "the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers". You fail, you traitor.

The drones are being tested to derive more ways to harass the public and to increase revenue from the generation of more traffic citations. The red light cameras have confirmed that.
The job of the government is to tax the public into submission. This includes Federal, State and local. They dont care about the constitution, the patriot act has negated what little of it was left.
It is quixotic to even believe, that any politician in any form of government cares about anything other than padding their bank account. Pick up a copy of the book "1984", by George Orwell and you will see that it is happening, He was just 23 years off.
