« A Diwali with the politicos | Main | Election Night... here we go! »

November 06, 2007

Election Day Fun!

Political junkies beware, if your eagerness is not carefully measured, this could be an underwhelming day.... just 10% turnout!

Before we move into the fantastic world of local voting day, here are the early voting numbers:

43,420 early voting in person

6,844 mail ballots

Total:  50,264, which is down from about 72,000 in 2005.

I'll be stationed at the Rice Hotel, where Mayor Bill White is having his election night event. For us TV types, the Rice Hotel is a difficult place to manage, being in the middle of a concrete jungle and no real good places to park our giant live trucks.  However, since White's campaign manager has an office in the building, they get a hefty discount renting out the ballroom.  It's the same reason my friends who used to live in the building got married there as well... Which just goes to show you, even when you have plenty of dough in the bank, you're still looking for a bargain!

You know what to do, check out my station's website for the official stuff, and come back to the blog for the fun tidbits!
