Peter Brown's jumping in...

Petercooking It's basically an open secret that Council Member Peter Brown wants to be Mayor, and wants it BADLY.  So this morning, we get the first official announcement... cooking up support! Nevermind that Bill King, Annise Parker, and a not-yet-announced candidate have the same idea:

COMMITTEE FORMED TO PROMOTE COUNCIL MEMBER PETER BROWN

AS HOUSTON’S NEXT MAYOR

HOUSTON, TX, JANUARY 15, 2008 – A diverse group of Houston’s business and civic leaders announce today the formation of the “Peter Brown for Mayor 2009” Exploratory Committee.

Houston attorney James L. Robertson and distinguished pastor Bishop James Dixon II co-chair the committee, which includes over 100 Houstonians active in the civic, business, cultural and religious life of the city.

This week Robertson, Dixon, developer Frank Liu, Hispanic leader Sonny Flores and arts patron Marilyn Oshman sent a letter of support asking Houstonians to join “The 1000 Friends of Peter Brown for Mayor 2009” by emailing electbrown@aol.com.
