Mccain canceled the David Letterman show in response to this issue.
Also, saying he was wanting a debate delay this week. Now is the best time for a debate to see how they perform in the hot seat.
I think everything will be "ok" its just that the tax payers will have to bail them out or Bush to borrow more money. Putting all the American children's future into debt even further or they find a actual fix for it. That I am not holding my breath for.
Not to mention Houston and Galveston are looking for some funding help during this time as well to rebuild, which is tiny compared to the current mess at hand.

Also , since we have to bail out these banks just to keep a status quo (which in not really good in the first place). What does the taxpayer get in return. Well, we could implement Single-payer health care bill HR676 or one like it. This would save tax payers est. at least 350 billion and high est. of 550billion. This would give full health coverage to the ~50 million under insured as well as give this coverage to the ~50 million uninsured(me being part of the later group). This action would pay for the bail out within a 3 year period. The banks get saved, everyone gets health care. That will put a smile on many sick children that can get hospital care or denied care(like my sister) and give the banks a second chance and we all get to keep our jobs.
