Annise Rolls out, Attorneys roll on, and Morales thinks it over.
City Controller officially made her announcement for Mayor yesterday, though it didn't exactly shock anyone. With a new campaign manager just flown into town, Parker is positioned to run a very well organized campaign. She even hired a make-up artist for her media roll out. As for the three other guys also throwing their hats into the ring, she's remaining confident.
Annise Parker and council member Peter Brown's candidacy are not surprises. However, the behind-the-scenes drama between supporters of two former City Attorneys remain high. Both Gene Locke and Ben Hall are plowing ahead with their candidacy. Locke, having hired Sue Walden's group to do the fundraising, is now scouring for campaign office space.
Ben Hall told me he's got a Treasurer in place, but won't tell me who that person is. He did, however, decide against buying State Rep. Hubert Vo's mansion, after I did a story on the mansion and his residency questions. Hall maintains he's got a condo in the city, and more than meets the residency requirements. I guess Rep. Vo will have to find another buyer with $3.9 million to spare.
Now on to Roy Morales. The self described Latino Conservative says he' seriously considering entering the race, and will make a decision in the next day or two. He told me today he keeps seeing his name pop up in blogs about Mayoral candidates. Well, count this as another time.
Council Member Brown does have some pretty nice campaign office digs. It's right behind Gravitas, the restaurant on Taft, so his volunteers are close to some really good grub.
Ms.Parker definitely seems to be really focused - and organized as you mention. Doesn't Mr. Brown bring a whole bunch of financial power by his own personal wealth?
Also, what's the latest on who will end up going after the Controller position once Ms. Parker leaves? thanks for the great coverage btw, I intend to save this blog link through the elections!!

Mr. Morales needs to get a clue. He is just wasting his time and money. Its time to get another hobby.
