Turner: I'm in!... If she's out.
State Rep. Sylvester Turner is now saying he's definitely running for Congress, if Rep. Sheila Jackson- Lee leaves her post.
The state rep, who has been coy about his intentions until now, is now stating on the record that he will jump into the race if Jackson-Lee is out. At least that's what his PR person, Sue Davis, is saying. That of course, is a big IF. She's still's telling everyone, including Turner, that she is running for her seat. That's not stopping people from hoping.
Turner's website touts him as a visionary leader, though if you click on certain sections, like the "photo gallery" link, it's just a bunch of generic photos of flowers and trees. Click on "News & Media" and it's generic gibberish. So, it looks like his team will have to do some more work on the whole new media front before launching any sort of Congressional campaign.

Happy hunting, Wayne-o.

I like that Sly myself. Has been a good Rep. and endured Wayne's racism.

Sylvester isn't going to Congress. In a contested Dem Primary in the 18th (and an open seat would be contested), Gay voters are the swing voters. And I can't imagine any Gay voters supporting Sylvester after voting with Craddick and for anti-Gay bills in the Tex. Leg.
